Americans might sue

April 2012

The much anticipated return of Formula 1 to American soil might be in jeopardy after it was revealed that the country really doesn’t give a shit about Formula 1. The proposed new venture at Austin in Texas has been put on hold because a bunch of Americans are suing each other. Construction work began on the imaginatively named, and not at all pretentious, American Grand Prix of the American Americas from America but development work ceased when the promoters realised that no one in America would turn up.

Another proposed venue around New York City was also shelved after negotiations between American circuit promoters and Bernie Ecclestone determined that America would care even less about a race there and would rather sue each other and watch NASCAR.

America has hosted a number of Grands Prix in the past from some glamorous settings including a car park and a desert. The most controversial US Grand Prix was undoubtedly the 2005 race from Indianapolis where only 6 cars turned up and a bunch of redneck NASCAR fans decided to throw burgers and cans of beer on the track and then sue the teams for wasting their burgers.
