New McLaren 'slightly less grey'

May 2015

McLaren’s long awaited upgrades will finally be put to the test at the Spanish Grand Prix. The much anticipated updates consist of a revised colour scheme which is basically the same as the last colour scheme but has a bit more red bits on it.

Team principal Ron Dennis explained “The team has worked hard on developing a car that basically looks exactly like every other McLaren since 1997. We believe the grey colour scheme with bits of red on it will give us an extra second in raw pace. We held several meetings to discuss the amount of red that should be included and we came to an agreement that slightly more bits of red will make the car look a bit quicker. It was also important that we use flashy red bits to take people’s attention away from the fact that we haven’t got any sponsors.”

Both Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button have praised the hard work carried out by the designers in the paint shop and are confident that the new colour scheme will make the McLaren look less of a turd on the track and believe they might actually score a point before the end of the season. Button, in particular, was excited by the chance of possibly getting to the end of a race.
